Funding Criteria

By working with our partners, both private and government bodies, we know what factors need to be present to deliver a successful event; which translates into economic benefits for the whole of Brisbane.

Here are a few of the factors that we look for when we consider funding events:

Criteria

  • The event’s likelihood to attract visitors to a region should be high, or there is a reasonable expectation that the event will develop significantly over time
  • The economic impact and / or the capacity to generate business development or leveraging opportunities must be high
  • High media exposure for the event and destination
  • The event must not adversely impact an existing major events
  • The event must be complementary to Brisbane’s brand image, cultural values and be environmentally sound
  • Host organisation must have the capacity / resources available to run the event they are seeking support for, and be able to present a three year business plan (if not a one-off event)

Considerations

  • Whether it may repeat (increased economic benefit)
  • Timing e.g. does it help to address low hotel occupancy periods
  • Is it of strategic value
  • Infrastructure capacity / considerations
